Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is currently under difficult circumstances. The Ukrainian development studio is directly affected by the Russian invasion. Now, GSC Game World is revealing that they have been the target of cyber attacks on and off since the war began.
A group active on a Russian social network is apparently responsible for the partially successful hacking attempts. However, the developers of Stalker 2 do not want to be blackmailed and are now turning to their fans with an urgent request.
Developers turn to their fans after cyber attacks
What happened? On March 12, 2023, the developers of GSC Game World turned to among other things Twitter to the public. In it, the studio behind Stalker 2 announces that it has been the victim of cyber attacks again and again for about a year. Not only game data, but also personal information of the developers were targeted.
According to GSC, a group from a Russian social network is responsible for the attacks. In the statement, however, GSC asserts that it will not be intimidated by these hacking attempts and the associated threats and blackmail. They want to continue to develop Stalker 2 and their support for Ukraine in the war against Russia.

How can fans help now? In the course of the statement, GSC Game World made an explicit request to the community. Should data and information about Stalker 2 actually become public, the developers ask their fans not to share or view them.
In case of doubt, according to GSC, this is outdated data that is still being worked on and that by no means represents the final vision for Stalker 2. So the developers are asking their community to be patient until they share official material with the public. Anything else would only dilute what Stalker 2 is supposed to be.
