The first season of The last of us, the undeniably hit HBO series based on the video game of the same name, has come to an end. And though discourse over the controversial ending rages onpeople are already looking forward to season two, which introduces one of the show’s most notorious characters: Abby Anderson and her incredibly toned arms.

If The Last of Us Part II First released in June 2020, players had a meltdown over Abby for two main reasons: she’s enacting some seriously brutal vendetta, and she’s incredibly torn. I’m talking biceps from the size of my head, defined triceps, and strong shoulders — all things that make the dark corners of Reddit very scared and very angry that they are so scared. In the following weeks Gamers stretched so hard to prove she couldn’t be that muscular that they pulled mental muscles, This proves once again that the gaming industry can’t handle women of any size, shape or form.
The She Hulk fiasco
But it’s not just the gaming industry, as evidenced time and time again by the lack of female superheroes built like Victoria’s Secret models. As Wonder Woman, does Gal Gadot look like she can do anything but strut and? make sharp-eyed comments on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? Can Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow pull off gymnastic stunts wearing a SKIMS waist trainer under a leather catsuit?
Sure, we all went insane when Natalie Portman actually got buff for Thor: Love and Thunderbut remember how They nerfed She-Hulk’s muscles for those Marvel’s She-Hulk series? When it was revealed that the CGI version of actress Tatiana Maslany (who plays Jennifer Walters) was pretty small compared to Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, fans were rightly apeshit. Where are the rear deltoids, where are the trapezius muscles? Why does she look as one person put itlike “She’s running for Congress to stop the Socialists from taking HER guns.”
in a (n Weekly entertainment interview, She Hulk Responding to rumors that “Marvel wanted She-Hulk’s muscles toned down,” executive producer Kat Coiro said She-Hulk didn’t actually have to be that big.
We honestly talked more about strength than aesthetics. We studied musculature and we studied female athletes who were incredibly strong. We leaned more toward Olympians than bodybuilders. That’s where a lot of our body references come from, very strong Olympic athletes. So she doesn’t have a bodybuilder’s physique, but she absolutely has a very strong physique that can justify the actions she does on the show. I think people expected a female bodybuilder and her to have these big, massive muscles, but she looks more like an Olympian.
Unfortunately, until recently, one of the few examples of a muscular woman in modern media was MMA fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano as Cara Dune The Mandalorian. Her arms were absolutely gigantic and exploded out of her breastplate on purpose. She eclipsed every other person who shared a scene with her. Unfortunately, Carano came out as a transphobe and Covid pandemic anti-maskerso she got the boot, and I worried that I would never see anyone built like her on TV or in movies ever again.
Mandalorian muscle moms
Thankfully, Katy O’Brian came to the rescue. Even if she’s only there for a short time The Mandalorian In Season 2, she returns as a main character in Season 3, and yes, we can see her arms. In fact, her muscles are so prominent that fans of the series made an apt comparison, tweeting that O’Brian, an actor and martial artist, should play Abby The last of us Season 2.
It sure isn’t far. Although Abby is voiced by Laura Bailey and has the face of the former Naughty Dog developer Jocelyn Mettler, her body double, is a CrossFit athlete and former collegiate swimmer Colleen Foetschwho looks like she can pick me up (a fairly muscular woman) with one arm and swing me like a baseball bat. Fotsch, who didn’t respond my city‘s request for comment, has a litany of YouTube videos show workout routines— and considering she’s currently a data analyst by trade, she’s proof that women can be muscle mamas while also living fulfilling NARP (non-athletic normal people) lives.
To cast an actor who is athletic and already blown up like a bad reference as Abby The last of us Season two makes a lot of sense — although I do crave to see a wild bulk-up from an actor who isn’t already built like a brick shithouse. But I also want to see more muscular women in movies and on TV, folks. I don’t care how they get there, I just want them there, muscles rippling under their skin like coiled snakes.
The last of us Fans believe the series has found its Abby in actress Shannon Berryknown for her role as Dot in The wilderness Series. Berry definitely looks like Abby, and if she is indeed our future antagonist, I look forward to seeing her forearms as they swing the golf club [REDACTED].
Update 3/17/23 at 5:24pm ET: Post updated to clarify Jocelyn Mettler’s job title.
