What’s new on the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 map?
The start of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 saw a brand new area added to the southeast portion of the map. These new locations include Steamy Springs, which has geysers and sakura trees, and Mega City, where you’ll find the new grind rails.
How to Reveal Named Locations and Landmarks on the Fortnite Map
When loading into a new season of Fortnite, only new areas will be grayed out (unless there has been a full map refresh, which is rare). You’ll need to head into the gray areas to fully unlock them. Typically, and as is especially true this season, these greyed-out locations are unlocked by visiting a specific landmark in each one. Try to look for notable points of interest. These are usually larger buildings or structures.
You will receive a small amount of XP when you visit a named location or landmark for the first time. To see the map in all its glory, you’ll need to visit each of the named locations and all of the major landmarks, either on foot or after landing from the Battle Bus.
Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 has arrived and with it comes a new selection of Battle Pass skins! Also take a look at the next Eren Jaeger skin! Don’t forget to complete the new challenges, including winning arcade games, knocking players back with the Kinetic Blade, shooting targets on a Grind Rail, and restoring health or shields on a Grind Rail. Meanwhile, find out what the best weapons are, new map changes, how to get XP fast, use the best PC settings, earn the Victory Umbrella, and earn a Victory Crown.
Fortnite Map Named Locations List
At the start of each Fortnite season, we can usually expect a handful of new locations to visit. Sometimes named locations are also added mid-season. Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 saw four new named locations added to the map:
- hot springs
- gnarled nets
- MegaCity
- Crossing the Kenjutsu
Additionally, the following locations return from Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1:
- breakwater bay
- Lone Laboratories
- Brutal Stronghold
- Anvil Square
- The Citadel
- Snapping shores
- Frenzy Farms
- Broken slabs
Fortnite landmarks explained
Fortnite Landmarks are smaller locations found all over the map. These usually contain smaller points of interest to explore, usually centering on specific objects like shipwrecks or castle towers. You’ll naturally come across landmarks just by exploring the map, and like with named locations, you’ll earn XP by finding them.
Fortnite Chapter 4 Old Maps
So far we’ve had two main maps as part of Fortnite Chapter 4. They have generally been much more open and contain small hamlets and villages with a medieval feel. There is a snow biome to the north, as well as a region of green farmland to the south. So far, the southeast region has seen the most change.
