Hooray, the weekend is here! It’s the weekend, everyone!
Before we dive into what we’ll be playing, let’s take a look at what’s been happening in the world of Nintendo this week.
First, Nintendo has seen fit to add not one, not two, but four new titles to its Nintendo Switch Online service. We reckon that’s pretty good so soon after Metroid Fusion. We also saw Nintendo of America CEO Doug Bowser make some “bullish” claims regarding the Switch and its potential successor.
On the other hand, it looks like Metroid Zero Mission might actually be coming to the Nintendo Switch Online service at some point, The Pokémon Company is apparently quite interested in NFTs, and there are rumors that some classic SoulCalibur games might get the remaster treatment.
But for now, let’s settle down with some games, shall we?

Much to my shame, I shelled out 1,000 platinum points this week for the catchy-named I Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and I have to tell you, I’m stoked. “This is just a stupid puzzle game, surely it can’t be that addictive,” I thought to myself as I downloaded the (basically) free content. But here I am, hours later, filling in my silly little boxes to make a picture that looks something like Hylian Shield? I guess?
If I manage to give it up, I’ll probably still play Super Mario Odyssey in the meantime. I started a new save file and finally get to play the game correctly collecting every month outside. It’s a tall order, I admit, but man what a game!

I’m afraid there won’t be many games for me this weekend. I’m moving soon, so it’s quite difficult for me to commit to anything. Also, every now and then I dive into the NSO service and play a bit of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Kuru Kuru Kuruin. Still replaying Resident Evil 4 demo on PS5 as much as I can; now that I know how to start the ‘Mad Chainsaw Mode’ difficulty, I keep replaying it to see if I can beat my previous score. Great thing.

I got the PC Engine Mini this week and plan to run it this weekend. It’s a small system with an intriguing library that I’ve never touched. I’m looking forward to that.
In the Nintendo world, I’m still working my way through Skyward Sword HD and Chained Echoes. I also downloaded the Streets of Rage 4 DLC.
And fiddling with the eShop games on my 3DS before it closes soon. Nintendo Badge Arcade got me interested again. One more week!

After enjoying the two-chapter demo last weekend, I’m looking forward to the sequel with Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. I just loved the game. Looking forward to playing time in the eShop with Squadron 51 vs. Flying Saucers and Titanium Hound. Outside of Nintendo platforms, I’m getting close to 26 hours Xenogars and I’m amazed at the quality of the single player campaign Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Game of the week is Data East’s Side Pocket for the NSO service. This week’s update put one of my favorite SNES guilty pleasures on the Switch. I miss the old Data East…

I’m traveling a lot this weekend, so the main thing I’ll be doing is leveling up to prepare for Octopath Traveler II’s superboss — not something I do often in an RPG, but when you’re mechanically as good as OTII, you have To the right?
Plus, all that writing and replaying Hollow Knight reminded me that I need to scratch another Metroidvania off the list — Ori and the Blind Forest. So if I get some free time between visiting family and going to London then I might use it.
We hope you enjoyed reading! Let us know which game you’ll be headlining in the poll above, and leave a comment with your weekend gaming plans!
