It was foreseeable that Techland, the developers of Dying Light 2: Stay Human, would not be lazy. Now the studio has teased its next project via Twitter.
And this time it doesn’t seem to be about zombies, even if the hung-up guys have played the most important role in Techland’s projects so far. Instead, the studio is working on an open-world fantasy game with role-playing elements.
The new work does not seem to have a name yet, but at least a first artwork was published together with the tweet. The same shows a character climbing around a tree overlooking a picturesque landscape with bridges, waterfalls and some vertical structures and rocks. The design calls for parkour elements, which already played a role in Dying Light 2.
The tweet itself also hints: “Our latest game will be a narrative-driven fantasy epic with an exotic open world to explore. We aspire to create an immersive, story-focused AAA title that explores the… combines and refines the best aspects of gameplay that Techland is known for.”
Techland had already indicated in 2016 that it was working on an open-world fantasy title with RPG elements that was intended to be slightly larger than Dying Light. At that time there was still talk of single player and co-op multiplayer. It remains to be seen whether this is still the case.
It also remains to be seen when Techland will officially announce the project, give the child a name and tell us what it’s all about.
