You read that right, Persona 5 Released again, this time as a mobile and PC game, albeit with a new character.
If I get nickels every time Persona 5 is released again, I don’t even know how many nickels I’ll get because it’s happened so many times. I do know I’ll have another one, though, because Persona 5: The Phantom X has just been released, a special adaptation of the fifth entry in the series for iOS, Android, and Windows. There could be some issues though, as there’s no word yet about releasing the game outside of China.
According to IGN, the spin-off game will be playtested in China on March 29th and will apparently be a full-fledged sequel to the original game. This time you’ll be playing as the new Phantom Thieves (sorry to those who liked the original crew) and will be themed around “lust”. As a mobile game, it’s free to play via in-app purchases, though it’s unclear how these will manifest.
Not surprisingly, you can do all the usual things in a Persona game: go to school during the day, watch a movie or play baseball at night. Of course, you can also infiltrate the Metaverse and various palaces. Based on some of the artwork shown for the game, the original cast will also make an appearance at some point.
The game is being developed by Black Wings Game Studio rather th an P-Studio itself, but publisher Perfect World Games said in a press release that Atlus was involved in development and that Persona character designer Shigenori Soejima helped create Phantom X’s protagonist.
If you’re looking to tide you over with a Persona fix before word of an international release breaks, Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden are now available on Game Pass, though whether the former will work is debatable.
