Diablo 4 players think dungeons feel too repetitive

Diablo, Dungeons, feel, players, repetitive

Diablo 4 The first beta was played over the weekend, and aside from some server issues, players don’t seem too confident about the procedural map.

Like the third game, Diablo 4 has procedurally generated dungeons as part of the game’s replayability. In theory, if dungeons are generated in a way that makes for interesting enough maps that they don’t feel repetitive, that’s doable. Unfortunately, some players who started testing this past weekend don’t seem to be entirely satisfied with the current situation (thanks PCGamesN). A post on the Diablo 4 unofficial subreddit had players talking about some of the things they didn’t like, with the original poster sharing screenshots of how the various map layouts look similar.

As shared by screenshots of nine different dungeon runs, most of them do have a very similar layout, with you always starting at the bottom of the map and the boss always in the middle. “Farming in predictable dungeons is so easy that it gets boring after only a few runs,” wrote the original user behind the post.

Other players have expressed similar sentiments, though it was also pointed out that this is still in beta and doesn’t necessarily represent every dungeon in the game. One user wrote, “It’s not that exciting, but you know what? If I farm a dungeon for a while, no matter if it’s exciting or unique every time, I’m going to get bored. That way I can at least speed through It, because I know what I’m mostly doing.”

Diablo 4 is still a few months away from its June 6 launch, so any issues it may have will hopefully be ironed out by then. There were some big server issues this weekend, and the fact that many players tried to play the game after it was ready doesn’t help. If you didn’t make it to the closed beta, the open beta will open this weekend for everyone to try.
