A new studio is set to provide content for the Apex Legends franchise for the next 15 years or more.
Respawn Entertainment plans to continue working on Apex Legends for many years to come. The developer has therefore opened a third studio in Madison, Wisconsin, as Vice President Greg Wilson said in an interview.
Wilson, who is also General Manager of the Apex Legends franchise, spoke about the difficulty of constantly having to produce content for the free-to-play battle royale shooter,
“Producing content at the scale and pace that Apex demands is no easy task. That’s why we’re always working to bring in more talent, more experience, more ideas and more skills,” said Wilson.
The health of the employees is also important. So long-term thinking has led to the new studio being run by Ryan Burnett. At Respawn, Apex Legends is said to be 15 years or longer.
“The health of the team is our top priority because we are thinking about the long term. We believe in Apex as a franchise that will be around for 10, 15 or more years and we look forward to making that happen. To do that, we can’t just go all in on one card, burn out and not be willing to do it for the long haul.”
While the focus for the new studio will be Apex Legends, it may also be support for future projects in the future.
