The series adaptation of The Last of Us on HBO hit like a bomb and received not only the best viewer numbers but also excellent reviews. But when will season 2 continue? Ellie actress Bella Ramsey has now revealed the possible start date.
The first season of The Last of Us ended last week on HBO and locally on Sky/WOW. For fans of the franchise, the first thing to say is: Waiting is the order of the day. But how long? Ellie actress Bella Ramsey may now bring a little more clarity to the answer to this question.
Ramsey was last heard on The Jonathon Ross Show and commented on the current top series. When asked when we can expect the sequel to be released, she said: “It’s going to take a while. I think maybe we’ll record that late this year and early next year. So it could be late 2024 or early 2025 be.”
The minimum waiting time until the arrival of season 2 will probably be another year and a half. Then, as is well known, the sequel The Last of Us: Part II should be picked up. In contrast to the first game, which was fully themed with Season 1, Naughty Dog’s second PlayStation hit will span several series seasons. Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have already confirmed this, so you can plan a third season straight away.
It is also already clear that Bella Ramsey will not be replaced in the role of Ellie in Season 2. The sequel is known to be set a few years later and many fans had feared that Ramsey would be replaced in the series due to the game’s character aging; but that will not be the case.
