Counter-Strike 2 finally revealed, limited beta available today

That’s not all. After being tight-lipped for so long, Valve is spoiling us. Not only is Counter-Strike 2 confirmed for a summer 2023 release, but the game’s limited beta testing begins today.

It’s clear that Valve is hitting full steam ahead right now. While we’re all expecting news about Counter-Strike 2 soon, most of us are counting on tomorrow, March 23, for big news. Alas, Valve surprised us once again with an announcement, various trailers, and limited beta testing.

In a series of short YouTube videos shared directly by Valve, Counter-Strike 2’s new features and look were showcased. The team says Counter-Strike 2 is “a complete overhaul of every system, every content, and every part of the CS experience.”

But how exactly did Valve confirm the game to fans? A tweet with only “Counter-Strike 2.” Very interesting, guys.

A trailer released alongside the confirmation shows how the smoke grenade will be more responsive (Valorant is shaking its boots right now), and the tick rate will be increased, making the experience better for everyone involved in the multiplayer shooter.

Of course, who could forget CS:GO’s much-loved maps? “The maps in Counter-Strike are the heart of the game, and the maps in Counter-Strike 2 have been improved in every way.”

If you’re particularly keen to participate in the limited beta testing of Counter-Strike 2 stats, you’re not alone. CS:GO tweeted that limited testing is available today and provided a link to more information on the Counter-Strike website.

That is, it will be based on “a number of factors that the CS2 development team deems important, including (but not limited to) recent playtime on official Valve servers, trust factors, and Steam account status.” In short, if you are Invitation to participate, you will be notified on CS:GO’s main menu.
