who does not know it Elder Ring in the meantime? The popular action RPG has around 20 million sold since launch on February 25, 2022 and become even more mainstream as an FPS mainstay call of Duty, which is a feat in itself. The game has tarnished innumerable polluted ones, spawned a few legendary streamersand has a thriving community that is still create some Wild Mods a year later. in summary, 2022 was the year of the Elder Ring. So it’s no surprise that the game continues to receive updates as FromSoft Primes Elder Ring for its first major DLC that could delve into the mystery of Miquella, Queen of Scarlet Queen Malenia.
The Lands Between now has ray tracing
With Patch 1.09, Elder Ring is finally getting a visual buff in the form of ray tracing effects, something that was revealed through data mining back in October 2022. Although the update will target all platforms, ray tracing is currently only available for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X. (It’s unclear if Series S players will also get access to this feature.) You can enable ray tracing. Go to Game Options (on console) or Graphics (on PC) in the settings menu and toggle ray tracing on or off. Be warned that game performance, including frame rate and resolution, may be impacted when playing with ray tracing enabled.
For the uninitiated, ray tracing is a rendering technique that helps create more realistic lighting while smoothing out reflections, shadows, and textures. An algorithm in the code tracks the path of the light rays (hence the name) and then uses that data to simulate how real light would interact with a virtual object. It’s a more complicated method to create more realistic lighting effects. Elder Ring doesn’t necessarily need this given the game is beautiful as it already is, but ray tracing would help eliminate the glow around edges in tight areas.

Bleed and Intelligence builds receive some nerfs
It’s not all good news, however. In addition to introducing ray tracing effects, FromSoft has made several PvP-exclusive balance adjustments to certain in-game attacks, gear, spells, and skills. But first two buffs: The Inescapable Frenzy Summon, a type of spell that deals damage and builds Insanity, has increased its power and grapple angle. In the meantime, the lifesteal fist abilityan Ashes of War, which turns off your opponent’s lights to steal a little of their health, has had their power, range, and grapple angle increased.
Now for the bad news. Bleed and Intelligence builds took a hit in patch 1.09. While the update says nothing specific about these two build types, some attacks, gear, and associated spells have been nerfed. For example, the additional Lord of Blood’s Exultation, which increases your attack power by 20 percent for 20 seconds when Blood Leak occurs near you, has been reduced in effectiveness. If you have paired this talisman with the Helm of the White Mask, well, you’re out of luck there, too, because the gear’s attack power buff – a 10 percent increase for 20 seconds when inflicting blood loss on an enemy or you – has been reduced. On the opposite side the force of the highly intelligent magic founding rain of the stars has been reduced. The power of another intelligence spell, magical land, has also been reduced. These are just a few examples of nerfs that somehow hollow out Bleed and Intelligence builds. Fortunately, however, the changes only apply to PvP.
