We’re not going to deny that Artificial Intelligence is alive her sweetest moment thanks to the landing of robots chat tools like ChatGPT or Microsoft’s GPT-4 based browser. Although we also find other solutions that generate images from text such as Midjourney, DALL-E (which is now also included in Bing) or Stable Diffusion. However, these are not the only areas that are enjoying the benefits of AI, and this application is a good example.
The last thing we expected to see is an AI assistant that learns from us to show us the following applications that we need, so if we use our Android mobile as a work tool, we will be supported by the assistance of this application. This one is called Arwen, and behind this pretty name hides a little utility that will speed up switching between applications.
Meet Arwen, the AI assistant we never imagined
Arwen is not a chatbot like the one we’ve been used to seeing lately, he doesn’t fill out our emails either, he doesn’t even have a big company behind him. This app is simple and it was developed by a small group of developers in order to experience the possibilities of AI.
It is available for Android and has an almost non-existent interface. When we open it we can see a simple screen where It asks us for some permissions it needs to work. So how does Arwen work? Well, as we mentioned earlier, it is a floating assistant, that is, it will always be ready to serve us.
Once we have granted the appropriate permissions, Arwen will appear in the upper right corner, always hidden while waiting for our finger to touch the drop-down menu. When we touch, a kind of popup will open that will suggest which application to switch to.
This assistant is programmed to learn from our mobile usage habits, and so refine further in the choice of the next application that you need to run It may not sound revolutionary, but these types of experiences are always appreciated because they can make it smoother to navigate between the applications we use. And even more so if we use several of them in work environments.
How to download and install Arwen Wizard
Arwen is a completely free application, but don’t expect a lot of features or functions since is at an early stage of development. Therefore, it will be updated over time through the efforts of the developers.
To install and use Arwen, we must first perform a series of steps until it’s finally ready to suggest the next app to open. In summary, here are the steps to follow:
- To download this application we must register at the following link. As the app is under development, it is not on the Google Play Store, but it uses Google’s beta app distribution.
- Once we have been accepted, we will receive an email with the download link of the application, from where we can download it. We recommend that you do this directly on the phone, so that you can later install the APK file.
- You also need to download the app from Firebase App Distribution, Google’s platform for developers to share their apps in development. From here we can share feedback with Arwen’s developers.
- Once both apps are installed. We can now use Arwen without any problem. Don’t forget to grant it the three necessary permissions for it to work, otherwise you won’t be able to use it.
We liked what this AI assistant has to offer, and we can’t wait to see what else it has to offer. It may seem like a useless app, but after a while, I found myself using it to switch between apps What else do I open? This way I avoided looking in the app drawer and opening the recent apps view.
