Ahh… Weekend.
It’s been a bit of a quiet week in the world of Nintendo, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been a number of interesting stories to highlight.
Confirming the rumors floating around the internet, Sega has announced that they will be releasing Sonic Origins Plus in June, putting Amy at the helm and adding twelve Game Gear titles to the collection – nice. There have also been new rumors of chips making the rounds for the Switch’s successor (and the sky is blue), so that might be something to keep an eye on.
Our boy Alex took an in-depth look (through?) at a pair of Switch-compatible sunglasses, so it was definitely a thing, and the lovely Zion also dived into what you need to do in preparation for the 3DS and Wii U eShop shutdowns.
Fans of Resident Evil 4 will want to check out the bizarre yet hilarious new anime shorts from Capcom. And finally, you can now download the Explorer’s Guide for Breath of the Wild for free – yup, free stuff!
Now it’s time to rest and relax with some games…

I will – hopefully like many others – pick up a few 3DS eShop items this weekend before the store closes. Gurumin’s 3D: Monstrous Adventure is already sitting there waiting for me to dig in, but I’ll be checking out the digital goods to spend more of my coin.
By the way, on the eve of Tears of the Kingdom, I’m about to make a big confession — I’ve never beaten Link’s Awakening. So I’ve got the Switch remake on hand and I’m going to dive in to fix a big mistake. And for some reason, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been calling me and I’m not sure if I can resist the temptation of starting my own island from scratch any longer.

I’m definitely feeling the loss this weekend with the 3DS eShop shutting down, so I’ve been diving into a few 3DS games recently. I’m currently playing through Metroid: Samus Returns and while it’s not really a patch for the later Metroid Dread, it’s still a great showcase of what developer MercurySteam can do with the IP.
On PS5 I obviously play a ton Resident Evil 4. I can’t believe that a remake of one of my favorite games of all time is finally here. Not only that, but it’s also ruddy good! Well done, Capcom.

Hi. This weekend I’ll be playing a whole bunch of MLB The Show 23, so look out for our review of that coming out soon, and I’ll also be continuing to clear problems in the wonderful Atelier Ryza 3 : Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, which in my humble opinion is the best Atelier game so far.
I’m also really, really looking forward to playing Dredge, which I thought was going to be released this weekend, but I guess I’ll have to be a little more patient for that one. Oh well, the gruesome terrors can wait, I still have a lot to do.
Have a nice weekend!

I’ve honestly spent most of my time playing the Streetpass Mii Plaza minigames on the 3DS this week. As we traveled to and around PAX East this week, we were lucky enough to have so many fellow Nintendo fans bring their 3DS and 2DS consoles with us – Streetpass was such a blast for everyone and working to complete our collections and earn achievements in Mia Plaza. We hope to get even more at the meeting on Saturday!

Not much going on this weekend other than the sequel to Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon and the arrival Raiden III x Mikado Maniac (I couldn’t wait for the western release). As my daily Fitness Boxing Fist of the Northstar workouts continue, the lack of Japanese speeches has me grabbing the boxed Japanese version to ensure completion. I will soon reach the point of no return Xenogars so hopefully disc 2 this weekend.
The game of the week is Resident Evil 4. Not the new remake (I don’t have enough HDD space to install it), but the original GameCube which I enjoy playing again. I might jump to the Wii version next for some precision targeting mercenary action.
We hope you enjoyed reading! Let us know which game you’ll be headlining in the poll above, and leave a comment with your weekend gaming plans!
