popular ninja turtles The graphic novel The Last Ronin is apparently getting a video game adaptation.
A video game adaptation of the 2020 graphic novel is in the works, Polygon reports. The comic tells the story of the titular last ronin, one of the four turtles, seeking justice for what happened to his family in a post-apocalyptic future New York. Sad stuff for a very stupid concept! That’s from Paramount Global’s senior vice president of gaming and emerging media, Doug Rosen, who spoke with Polygon in a recent interview, but hasn’t revealed who will be developing the game.
According to Rosen, The Last Ronin adaptation will be a third-person action role-playing game, comparing it to Sony and the Santa Monica studio’s God of War game (presumably a newer, more down-to-earth game). It will also be a single-player game, just in case anyone is worried, just play as one turtle, but Rosen apparently pointed out that other characters may be playable in flashback sequences. In the original comics, the modern day only follows an unnamed turtle, but it occasionally travels back in time to reveal other characters.
I won’t spoil who this turtle is, since it was one of the main hooks of the original manga series. This mysterious turt wears a black mask, wields all four of their signature weapons, the nunchaku, sai, bo staff, and dual katana, and sees most of the time each of their designs look the same, no Be clear about who it is.
Originally released as a five-issue miniseries, the comic was created by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman based on ideas he had with co-creator Peter Laird in the ’80s.
If you’re looking for a TMNT video game that offers a more relaxed ’80s vibe, then Shredder’s Revenge is a great place to be, with our own Connor giving it 4/5 stars in his review.
