Lego 2K Driver has been officially revealed, offering an open-world block-based racing game that lets you build your own cars.

After some rumors and leaks swirled about the new LEGO racing game, Visual Concepts has officially released LEGO 2K Drive, which looks like a cross between Forza Horizon, Mario Kart, and apparently real LEGO. That last bit means there’s a lot of customization, as the trailer shown shows you’ll be able to build your car just the way you like it. The game apparently has over 1,000 pieces available for building vehicles, so it sounds like you’ll be able to craft some pretty unique rides.

On the Forza side, Lego 2K Drive has a huge open world for you to drive around and explore (or completely wreck things, considering everything is made out of Lego). It appears that Forza isn’t the only open-world racing title borrowed from the Lego 2K Drive. The trailer suggests you’ll be able to seamlessly switch between cars and boats depending on the terrain, which reminds me of The Crew 2, although it doesn’t look like LEGO 2K Drive will necessarily have planes.

For those who like nostalgia, you can also find cars from LEGO’s City, Creator and Speed Champions sets. There will be single-player and multiplayer modes, including co-op and competitive, where you can play with up to 6 people online or in split-screen.

LEGO 2K Drive is “the first title in the AAA LEGO franchise that 2K has partnered with The LEGO Group to develop,” according to a press release. Presumably, this means we’ll get other types of games in LEGO Worlds – but best-case scenario gets a new LEGO Island game.

In fact, the LEGO 2K drive is coming soon, May 19th to be exact, on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. While it should be noted that PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are more expensive, I think it’s a new generation tax despite being the exact same games.
