Japan has recognized that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard will not significantly reduce competition in certain areas.
After the CMA, the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) has now recognized that the planned merger of Activision Blizzard and Microsoft does not mean that there will be any restrictions on the market.
The Japan Trade Commission has one on this 43-page report published. In the conclusion, the JFTC wrote:
“The Fair Trade Commission has concluded that the conduct in question does not constitute a material restriction of competition in any particular area of trade.”
“The JFTC concluded that the conduct in question did not constitute a material restriction of competition in any particular trade (see Appendix for details of the findings of the investigation).”
Japan seems to be in a positive mood for the planned merger of the two companies and to want to give it the green light.
