By the end of Altered Carbon season 2, the battle has been, not won, but probably delayed as the causes are still around. And finally we get the fix with Kovacs & # 39; s sidekick Poe story.
Throughout the season, Poe has had problems and problems with his memory, processor and focus. In the final scene of the season, we find a solution to Poe's illness, but he comes up with a new mystery.
Let's talk about that last scene. But first, let's remember how we got there.
(Note: This post contains large fragments of Modified Carbon period 2.)
What was wrong with Poe in Season 2?
Back in the last episode of season 1, Rey's investigator Mr Leung made the last visit to the Raven Hotel. Leung used an "electrabithizer" to disable and look like killing Poe.
In the first episode of Season 2, we see that Poe has survived a powerful attack on his character, as he describes it, and is accompanied by Takeshi Kovacs, played in season 2 by Anthony Mackie. The usual wide-eyed emitter (that pyramid-shaped color) Poe stays in while walking the way the bustling hunter Trepp finds the Kovacs.
But Leung's attack had left Poe with an embedded memory and a damaged processor. We learn in Episode 2 that the only remedy would be to start completely, but Poe is hesitant about losing his memories of Lizzie Elliot, of his 30 years with Kovacs, and, perhaps, for more than 50 years worked as a hotel (ier) before they met.
It's the only thing there Dig 301 (another AI) offers to build a plan to save his memories delivered by Poe.
Seasonal drama and all-out comedy prevails in the battle at Harlan World that blows up the needle tower. Quellcrist Falconer, Takeshi Kovacs, and Takeshi Prime with long sleeves fight Colonel Carrera / Jaeger / elder.
Poe pops in the middle of a fight to look to the Kovacs, too, proving that technology is just as destructive in the distant future as it is today, which is when Dig 301's plan announces that it's time for a reboot.
Shortly before he closes down, Poe starts writing on Post-it, which is his favorite way of advertising. We don't see what he's writing before he disappears.
Poe, Dig 301, Annabel, and the DHF
Three months, 10 days, 12 hours, and 55 seconds later, Poe is back in a hotel room. Dig 301 took Annabel's name and started looking after the hotel in her absence.
Poe's memory is not restored, though Annabel is sure it comes back with time. Most importantly, Poe's system (her personality, as it were) has been caught up with it too much of classified data.
We learn that the note he wrote during his reboot was the key to undo. By using it, Poe and Annabel discover that confidential data is for everyone in green DHF – digital human responsibility. DHF is a person’s brain, brain, and personality in a data form. That data is stored in cortical stack and is included in sleeve (body). This is what allows people to not die successfully in the Carbon Carbon atmosphere.
Poe may have been planning this moment while writing a note.
So whose DHF is it?
Looking at the DHF, Annabel announces, "You better prepare a good whiskey," indicating that the DHF is the latest version Takeshi Kovacs (the one we watched in seasons 1 and 2, not Takeshi Prime with two sleeves). Annabel's plan was confirmed by showrunner Alison Schapker in the middle interviews with CinemaBlend and Collider.
In Season 1, DHF's offsite backups are very expensive and rare – 48 hours between Bancroft releases was the point of a major building block of that mystery. However, in season 2, the backups seemed to be getting much stronger. For example, we see Danica Harlan's sleeve killed, and then we watch his hop in the form of a new sleeve later without any mistake being hit.
Taking over DHF owned by Poe was new in the same way, Poe could throw it into a stool, get a sleeve, and bring back the Kovacs from the time before the final battle. We'll have to wait to see if – hopefully what – Modified Carbon is nominated for the third season.
