Casstte Beasts will be available on April 26th and will be available on Game Pass for PC from day one. Later this spring, during its console launch on Switch and Xbox, it will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at the same time.
The game is a Pokemon-like monsters fusion role-playing game, and it’s all about collecting and battling an array of unique monsters; all of which can combine to create unique and powerful companions.
As you may have discovered, Cassette Beasts has a world built entirely around cassette tapes. The monsters you encounter are recorded on your tape, in the style of a third-generation Pokemon game. It looks cool and distinct enough from its inspiration to hold your interest.
The game has an elemental combat system, where your monster’s elemental chemistry applies buffs, debuffs, and even changes your opponent’s elemental type. Do you have friends who like to play this kind of game? It even has sofa cabins, a rare but welcome feature in this day and age.
If you’re a PC gamer with a Game Pass subscription, you’ll be able to download and play it as part of the service on the platform’s initial release date. The same goes for Xbox users, though you’ll have to wait a little longer to join and try it out.
You can check out the game via its Steam page here. Ever since Temtem, I’ve had occasional cravings for games in this subgenre, especially when the developers make interesting twists to the formula every now and then. From what I’ve seen, Cassette Beasts look like they’re bringing something simple to the table, with a vintage twist of their own.
