Forza Horizon 5 received an update with a new feature to improve the gaming experience, which was expected, but the opposite happened.
The excellent Forza Horizon 5 welcomed a novelty a few hours ago. But apparently there is a big hiccup that interrupts the game completely.
Forza Horizon 5 and DLSS 3 don’t mix
Already graphically and technically impressive without any additional technical trick, ForzaHorizon 5 is now fully compatible with Nvidia’s DLSS 3.0. A process aimed at improving the performance of games. In general, everything is going very well and the results are there, but for the Playground Games title it seems like a completely different story. An editor on the site put FH5 through a technical test using a PC equipped with an i7 12700KF processor and a GeForce RTX 4090 for the graphics card. In the settings we have Ultra 4K settings with DLSS set to “Quality” and ray tracing enabled. With all of that, Forza Horizon 5 runs at an average of 168 fps, compared to 128 fps without DLSS 3. A 31.25% gain that, while not impressive to WCCFTech over other titles, is still okay.
No, the problem here is that adding Nvidia’s DLSS 3.0 introduces very significant technical issues. In detail, the site noted ghosting, visual artifacts, and significantly degraded fluidity. We can see it very well in their capture, which shouldn’t happen given the win at this level. We can see that Forza Horizon 5 runs in slow motion with a pretty heavy rendering with this feature. According to the publisher, that’s how it is « the worst DLSS 3 integration like you’ve never seen before ». The contrast to promotional video from Nvidia is awesome.
A game that gets even richer
Along with the arrival of DLSS 3.0, Forza Horizon 5 has made way for its second expansion, Rally Adventure. A DLC included in Premium Expansion Bundle, Premium Edition and Expansion Bundle. As the name suggests, this is additional content focused on racing in the dirt of the Sierra Nueva, even with night tracks “which stretch for miles”.
We’ve created 61 kilometers of roads that can be considered some of the most intriguing in the series, filled with unpredictable turns with dizzying drops, crests with restricted visibility and jumps. Within a new career, you can join three rally teams to complete timed rally stages from point A to point B as well as traditional races. The Sierra Nueva also offers you several new biomes to explore, including the city of Pueblo Artza, a huge abandoned quarry perfect for the gymkhana, epic deformable sand dunes, the narrow desert valley and its meanders, verdant hills, and a fully destructible palm forest. Behind a stunning crater you’ll even find the remote village of Cráteres Secos.
