Sonic characters are often liked by us for their diversity in designs and personalities. Both heroes and villains have unique details that draw us in and help us remember them for years.
That being said, not all sonic characters they have received the same love from fans and developers. It could be said that some have even been forgotten for years, despite having had a leading role in some
game.
In this article we will remember some of those heroes and villains that ended up forgotten in the Sonic franchise.
Jet the Hawk
The games of Sonic Riders They were quite popular at the time, which makes it more curious that Jet the Hawk end up becoming one of Sonic’s most forgotten characters.
In this series, the heroes and their rivals rode futuristic skateboards as they competed in epic races. Hawk led a group of villains called the Babylon Rogues, and his design in particular is pretty cool. In fact, he appeared in several Sonic Riders titles, in the Mario & Sonic series, and had cameos in different games.
Even so, Hawk has not found enough prominence nor has he finally managed to break away from the Sonic Riders series.
Shade the Echidna
The mysteries of the echidna civilizations are the most interesting in Sonic. However, just like the old war stories of him, many sonic characters they have ended up forgotten.
Such was the case with Shade the Echidnawhich was presented at Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, a BioWare game for the Nintendo 3DS. She was supposed to be a major antagonist throughout the game until the end, when she discovers that Ix’s intentions weren’t as noble as she thought. She thereafter joins Sonic’s team in combat.
Despite this epic story, Shade did not appear in the series again and probably never will again.
Mighty the Armadillo
Continuing with the sonic characters most forgotten we have to mention Mighty the Armadilloanother powerful ally of the blue hedgehog.
Mighty’s story is very similar to others in the series, but he developed quite well in SegaSonic the Hedgehog. He was held prisoner along with Ray and Sonic, and helped in the fight as much as he could. He even appeared in Knuckle’s Chaotix where he had a good role helping the echidna.
Other than that, he has only received cameos in a few video games. He also appeared in the Sonic comics, though his character is clearly increasingly forgotten, and we don’t know if we’ll see him again.
Fang the Sniper
The hunter Fang the Sniper it was an interesting idea Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble from Game Gear. Unfortunately, the platform couldn’t beat Nintendo’s Game Boy, so its exclusive games didn’t reach a wide audience.
Fang was supposed to be a major new villain in Sonic. In fact, he was present in Sonic Drift 2 and has had cameos in many others, from Tails Adventure to Sonic Mania. Despite this, Fang never developed further and became one of the sonic characters more forgotten.
Ray the Flying Squirrel
Despite its well-defined design, Ray the Flying Squirrel ended up being one of the sonic characters most forgotten by both fans and creators.
Ray premiered on SegaSonic the Hedgehog, where he was held prisoner by Dr. Robotnik alongside Sonic and Mighty. SEGA had planned to release a port of the title for the Sega 32X, as well as adding it to the Sonic classics collection, although this never happened.
Because of this, we haven’t heard from Ray since then, apart from some reference in Sonic Mania. In general he has a very similar design to Sonic and Tails, which perhaps made the character too redundant.
Honey the cat
the curious Honey the Cat it is so forgotten that it almost did not appear on the list of sonic characters more forgotten. The reason almost no one remembers her is because she appeared in the HD re-release of Sonic the Fighterswhich in itself is a niche game in the series.
Honey the Cat It was going to appear in the original game, but it was scrapped at the last minute. For this reason, for a long time it was only known by dataminers and a few fans. The arrival of her in the remastered version did not change things, since she did not appear again in another Sonic game.
