Diablo IV: Open Beta: Huge success with impressive numbers

Beta, Diablo, huge, impressive, Numbers, Open, success

Over two weekends in March, players were able to bludgeon through the first act of Diablo IV and the offer was more than taken up.

March was the open beta month for Diablo IV. First the pre-orderers were allowed to play, a week later all interested players could let off steam and gamble the first act of the game, which is to be released in June.

An offer many players couldn’t resist, as the Diablo IV Open Beta was by far the most successful beta in the series. This is proven by pretty impressive figures that Blizzard has now published in the wake of the beta.

A total of 61 million hours of playtime was sunk into the beta over the two weekends, which 2.6 million players used to reach level 20 and thus unlock the wolf pup pet for the main game. The most popular classes in the beta were Sorceress and Necromancer, while Druid, Rogue and Barbarian were apparently less popular.

Over 29.5 billion monsters were killed in that time, while players died nearly 47 million deaths. The Butcher in particular claimed a lot of victims: the legendary demon killed 1.7 million players, while he himself was only killed 576,662 times. World boss Ashava has an even better stat. It killed over 10 million players while defeating just over 100,000 times.

How does it go from here? In April, Blizzard wants to speak again with a developer live stream and comment on the endgame and the results of the open beta, among other things. A specific date for this has not yet been set, but we will of course keep you informed. If nothing intervenes, the release of the game should follow on June 6th
