This week my new 2DS XL has been in heavy rotation after downloading a bunch of titles last weekend (break out the orange eShop bag, we miss you). If I can put down Pocket Card Jockey for more than 10 minutes, I’ll probably continue through Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove and relive my dream of being able to create beautiful pixel art despite my lack of experience, equipment, and skill. .

I also played a little game called The last of us on my PS4 recently after that overlooked indie TV show released on HBO (you probably haven’t heard of it). It would be great to get some more off the list as long as I can last emotional damage.

Nothing physical this week, but the eShop more than made up for it. Low polygon racing is exciting with Formula Retro Racing: World Tour, Papertris is a wonderful companion to the movie Tetris, FUR Squadron is the Star Fox and TRON you didn’t know you needed, Flashout 3 just about managed to scratch that AG racing itch and have the ultimate the Assault Suits Valken version is no small treat.

Game of the week is Lunark. I’ve been following the development of this gem for the past few years and despite pre-purchasing a physical copy, I couldn’t wait any longer. So for this weekend, it’s digital!

It turns out that restarting your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island is a really bad idea because you just lose all your life all over again. I felt a little bad about ACNH and never went back to it after the big 2021 update, but now I have so many new things to discover, it feels like a whole new game. I’m sorry I doubted you, Animal Crossing. I love you.

The first NieR DLC is live at Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, so I’m going back to the movie theater I’m going to — let’s see if I can get through Weight of the World without falling into a sobbing fit. I will be going back to Citizen Sleeper to watch all three free DLC episodes. Have a great weekend, folks, and stay awake this April 1st.

This weekend I’ll be saying hello to Jason Isaacs when I tackle The Last Worker. This one has intrigued me for a long time and I managed to snag it on Thursday night with a 20% launch discount. In our review, Roland found it lacking in certain respects, but I’m eager to unbox it myself.

Elsewhere, there’s a hefty stack of eShop games I grabbed before the shops closed on 3DS and Wii U. I enjoyed shooting NES Remix, and there’s a few things on 3DS (Nintendo Pocket Football Club, SteamWorld: Tower Defense, Aero Porter) that I haven’t even opened yet. . I keep getting distracted by Pocket Card Jockey.
