Niantic and the Pokemon Company have been observing and evaluating raids in the hit iOS and Android game Pokemon GO and have decided to implement some changes in an effort to rebalance the game and ensure its longevity. Niantic said in a blog post that these new changes to raids in Pokemon GO will take effect from Thursday, April 6 at 11:00pm / 7:00pm UK time.
Price adjustments:
- The cost of a three-pack Remote Raid Pass will increase to 525 PokéCoins.
- The cost of individual Remote Raid Passes will increase to 195 PokéCoins.
- A Premium Battle Pass three-pack will be added to the store for 250 PokéCoins.
Restrictions on participation in Remote Raid:
- Trainers will be able to participate in a maximum of five remote raids per day.
- This maximum can be changed and increased for special events.
Ranged Attack Passes:
- Remote Attack Passes will be included in a pool of potential research discovery rewards.
- Ranged Attack Passes earned through Research Breakthroughs will still be subject to the existing inventory limit of three Ranged Attack Passes per trainer.
- If a trainer earns a Remote Raid Pass from Research Breakthrough while at the three Remote Raid Pass limit, they will receive a Premium Battle Pass instead.
Purchasing a Remote Raid Pass 3 pack will still allow you to keep up to 5 Remote Raid Passes if you purchase them with 2 Remote Passes already in your inventory.
Candy XL:
- Trainers who personally participate in five-star raids will earn more Candy XL than before.
Since its introduction in 2020, Remote Raid Passes have dominated the Pokémon GO gameplay experience in a way we never intended. Rewarding female trainers with extra Candy XL and a pass other new features are two of the ways we hope to further encourage playing Pokémon GO in person with your friends, family and community.
We plan to keep Remote Raid Passes as part of Pokémon GO. However, we believe this change is necessary for the long-term health of the game and we are not making it lightly. We believe this is a necessary step toward our goal of preserving and enhancing the unique experience of playing Pokémon GO—a game we hope you’ll enjoy long into the future.
