A further delay in the launch of Ark 2. Initially planned for 2022, then postponed to 2023. Now, Studio Wildcard has announced that the sequel to the dinosaur survival game starring Vin Diesel will need more time to reach the quality that the development team wanted. The release date is now scheduled for the end of 2024.
According to Studio Wildcard, the use of the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine is one of the reasons for the delay, since it is a new and complex technology for them. The team had to adapt their workflows and adjust processes to be able to work with this graphics engine.
“Our goal is to make ARCH 2 the best game possible and provide players with an exceptional and rewarding experience“, writes the developer. “Unreal Engine 5 is incredibly new technology for us (and all developers). Our goal is to use this cutting-edge technology to its full potential while creating a game of a scope never before seen in Studio Wildcard. and as we learn more about the engine and develop the sequel, we have adapted our workflows and adjusted our pipelines to adapt to this new paradigm new generation. Because of all that this entails, we need more development time.
Additionally, the developer has confirmed that there will be no gameplay or images of Ark 2 This year. Although we will see a new presentation of the game for 2024.
Ark 2 is in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Additionally, it has been confirmed that it will be available on Game Pass when it launches.
