Apparently we muggles get to relive the story of Harry Potter. But this time not as an (audio) book or movie, but in the form of a TV series from Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO. At least that’s what the usually well-informed website wants Bloomberg have experienced.

How Harry Potter should work as a TV series

This is known so far: Bloomberg’s report provides the following details about a Harry Potter TV series reboot. Of course, keep in mind that the details are not officially confirmed at the moment!

  • Each season will be dedicated to a book in the Harry Potter saga. This would bring the HBO series to a total of seven seasons.
  • The series format should have the advantage of giving the story from the books more space. Details that didn’t get a place in the films could finally come into their own.
  • Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and HBO CEO Casey Bloys are currently trying to convince Harry Potter author JK Rowling to let them produce a Harry Potter series.
  • Should the project actually become a reality, JK Rowling would be able to participate in the creative process to some extent – though she would not be involved as the series’ lead creator or showrunner.

Controversy um JK Rowling

Comments by Harry Potter author JK Rowling about trans people have repeatedly sparked controversy. This article explains Rowling’s statements and summarizes reactions from those affected. An overview of the whole controversy surrounding JKR and Hogwarts Legacy can be found here.

According to Bloomberg, the deal is far from done, a Harry Potter reboot as a TV series does not necessarily have to happen. So fans should wait for an official announcement from HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery first.

A magic money printing machine

Incidentally, the fact that you want to get more out of Harry Potter is anything but surprising: the eight previous films starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were played worldwide over $7.7 billion a. And also the recently released role-playing game Hogwarts Legacy exceeded all expectations of Warner Bros.

Even if it looks rather meager for DLCs and addons to Hogwarts Legacy at the moment, fans of the fantasy universe can definitely count on a sequel. You can find out more about this in the following articles:
