Microsoft today issued an important reminder to all Windows 10 version 21H2 users regarding the end of support date for this feature update. Released in November 2021, this build will hit end-of-service later this year on June 13, and that means it won’t receive major updates like the notorious Patch Tuesday.
Along with the recall, Microsoft encouraged users to upgrade to a newer version of Windows 10
On June 13, 2023, the 21H2 editions of Windows 10 Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations will reach end of service. The next June 2023 security update, which will be released on June 13, 2023, will be the last update available for this release.
Windows 10 version 22H2 shouldn’t give you any problems
After this date, devices running this version will no longer receive monthly security updates or previews containing protections against the latest security threats. To help users stay protected and productive, Windows Update will automatically launch an update feature list for Windows 10 consumer devices and unmanaged enterprise devices that are on or within months of end of service.
Microsoft has always been firm in its recommendation to stay up to date with the latest versions of its operating systems for better user experience and better security. We hereby also encourage all Windows 10 version 21H2 users to upgrade to a newer version to continue receiving important security and feature updates in the future.
Please note that Microsoft provides extended support for some versions of Windows 10, but this only applies to certain editions and at an additional cost.
