Apple releases iOS 16.4.1

Apple has just released iOS 16.4.1 for iPhone, a minor update to the iOS 16.4 operating system that arrived just two weeks ago. This is a bug fix update which includes significant adjustments related to Siri and some emojis.

The update is now available for all iPhone models capable of running iOS 16, including iPhone 8 up to the latest version. The size of this update is 299 MBand can be downloaded by following the path Settings > General > Software update.

Fixes and new features of iOS 16.4.1

The main fix that comes with iOS 16.4.1 is related to the “push hands” emoji. Previously this didn’t show variation in skin tone like emojis on the other hand. On the other hand, some users have reported issues with Siri not responding which has also been fixed with this update.

iOS 16.4.1 also includes fixes for two exploited security vulnerabilities, such as WebKit and IOSurfaceAccelerator. The former may have led to the execution of arbitrary code when processing malicious content. While the latter could have allowed an application to execute partial code with kernel privileges.

Apple is already testing iOS 16.5 and should upgrade to iOS 17 later. The new version of the next generation of iOS, which should be presented at the WWDC which will be held from June 5 to 9.
