With the Indie Box, the entire XboxSquad editorial team offers you mini reviews of very little known or featured indie games. While some don’t deserve to step out of the shadows of the Xbox Marketplace, others might be worth a look. That is the whole subject of this section.
Do you know the principle of an escape game? Yes sure you have already played there IRL or in JV. Not me. Even though I know the basics and the logic, it’s the first time I’ve been confronted with it in one way or another. It’s often said that first times are never perfect but always unforgettable. I might as well be honest right now, I’d rather forget it Escape first 3 immediately, because we are far from perfect when it comes to perfection.
Three scenarios are presented to you from the beginning of the game: an old abandoned school, a mansion and a mansion. You will access these levels through a particularly hideous node. Short or long they have in common that they reflect a more than perceptible laziness in the modeling of the objects that you will discover. The graphics aren’t the game’s strength, that’s for sure, but fortunately the soundscape makes up for everything… Unfortunately, it won’t be enough to save the title.
The goals are nebulous and we generally proceed blindly Escape first 3. It’s difficult to embark on the adventure when the stakes are unknown, and personally I’ve never succeeded. Special mention goes to aiming objects with the controller, which requires exceptionally penetrating vision or you’ll systematically miss. Thanks to the particularly short third level for allowing me to get out of there quickly (a bit like the goal of an escape game, ie) and move on.
