Of course sometimes, and especially if you have a hard disk or SSD of a smaller size and have less free space, you've entered one of these two (or both) files to see that take up more space (in order of several gigabytes) and that you cannot remove them normally.

To delete this file we need to do it in a special way, because we cannot select and compress it because it is a system file. The first thing you have to do is open the Command Prompt window as Administrator, and in this case you have to click the Start button and select "Command Prompt (Administrator)".

In the popup window, you simply execute the following command (type and press ENTER):

After that you can close the Command Prompt window and restart the computer. After doing so, the hiberfil.sys file will disappear and, with it, you will remove another GB pile from your drive.

Is there anything wrong with removing hiberfil.sys?

The only thing that happens when removing this file is that we will disable the possibility that things will cause the machine to go wrong, but everything will continue to work without interruptions and no penalties for system operation.
