MST Financial senior analyst David Gibson told the news site Axios that he believes the already record-breaking Super Mario Bros. movie will gross around $3.5 billion. Reducing that figure, Mr. Gibson says he is confident that the Super Mario Bros. movie will grossing $1.2 billion at the global box office and an additional $2.3 billion from its upcoming digital release. In the end, he predicts Nintendo will walk away with about ¥150 billion ($1.1 billion) after recouping the costs of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and its partnership with animation studio Illumination.
