Apple is considering the development of another version of augmented reality glasses.
Recently, from iPadízate, we commented on the imminent appearance on the scene of glasses Reality Professional from Apple. It is assumed that the company will showcase its mixed reality glasses at WWDC 2023 on June 5. Now well, Did you know these aren’t the only glasses Apple is working on?
That’s right, Apple is also developing some augmented reality glasses regardless of its impending Apple Reality Pro. A priori, it would be a cheaper product that would be closely associated with the concept of “glasses” of augmented reality and further removed from the concept of helmet on which the mixed reality glasses that will be presented soon are based.
The real “glasses” from Apple will be released in 2026 or 2027
While everything seems to indicate that mixed reality glasses will be presented at WWDC in June 2023, the latest rumors suggest that augmented reality glasses won’t hit the market until 2026 or 2026.
Ming Chi Kuo provided this information in a summary of polls and forecasts via Medium. Ensures that Apple develops a technology of “metals” to change the plastic lens covers of several electronic devices such as iPhone and iPad.
This type of thin lens technology uses a special class of flat surfaces which will help improve lighting, taking advantage of its low thickness compared to traditional lenses.

Ming-Chi Kuo assumes that mass production of Apple’s metallic lenses will begin in 2024 and initially they will be intended for the Face ID system of the iPad Pro. Later, if all goes according to plan, they will use this revolutionary technology in augmented reality glasses, which should be released in 2026 or 2027.
Going a step further, Apple’s famed prediction guru has reported that these thin lenses could end up replace the current plastic lenses of existing cameras in the electronic devices of the Cupertino company between 2028 and 2030.
“Investors should note that over the next few years, metalens will gradually replace plastic lenses in 3D applications. Mounted devices such as glasses will be the flagship application for these metalens.”
Everything seems to indicate that Apple will unveil its helmet commonly called Apple Reality Pro during WWDC 2023 with technical specifications as interesting as the implementation of a H2 chip with low latency transmission, battery support with technology MagSafeadjustable lenses, a screen microLED and a processor with an SoC architecture of 5 nanometers with an image coprocessor.
For their part, augmented reality glasses would have a slightly more affordable cost and would be focused on more everyday use. Besides, its design will be much lighter and more minimalist. Even if, unfortunately, we will have to wait until 2026 to find out…
