With “The Marvels” a new Marvel film will be released in German cinemas in November. It is a sequel to the 2019 Captain Marvel film, while continuing the storyline of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. On April 11, 2023, Marvel Entertainment released the first trailer. With almost half a million fans, the first scenes of the superhero spectacle are anything but good.

So is “The Marvels” doomed to fail even before it hits cinemas? Not necessarily, because although the trailer has already received over 468,000 dislikes from viewers, there are also many positive reviews in the comments. Thousands of fans are looking forward to the new Marvel film. Still, with just over 445,000 likes overall, the trailer has fewer positive reviews than negative ones.
In fact, many Marvel fans have become more critical in recent years, which is also reflected in reviews of other Marvel films. The trailer for “She-Hulk: The Lawyer”, which was released in mid-2022, collected well over 500,000 dislikes, for example, but received better feedback overall with at least 780,000 positive ratings.
