Movie Super Mario Bros is poised to become the highest-grossing video game movie ever, overtaking it Detective Pikachu and Warcraft the film after being in theaters for just over a week.
The latest figures from Box Office Mojo show that the film has already grossed $437,946,600 worldwide, for a domestic gross of $250,958,695 and an international gross of $186,987,905 (via collider).
That means it’s easily on track to overtake 2016’s Warcraft, which currently holds the worldwide gross 439,048,914 dollars. Detective Pikachu 2019 made 433,005,346 dollarsthough Box Office Mojo also reports that the Pokémon movie has made a potential addition 16,532,334 dollars 2023 in the UK, which would bring him to $449,762,638.
Regardless, it’s hard to see The Mario Movie not making an extra $20 million over the weekend, so whichever movie comes out on top now, we think The Mario Movie will run it into the ground over the next few days.
