On Thursday the official Naruto Site posted the results for Naruto99, his first popularity poll in 11 years. Although Sakura Haruno, the punching bag in the Naruto fanbaseNaruto99 didn’t win, she surprised both the creator and fans alike by receiving more than double the votes of Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha combined.
As a rule, polls on the popularity of shonen manga series help the creators to find out which characters should be emphasized more and judge which character is The untimely death will hit the fans hardest. The last time Naruto conducted a popularity poll when the series was still in release in 2011.

Kishimoto was really proud of Sakura even though he texted her so badly
The reason Sakura is considered by many Naruto Fandom being a “useless” character is a mistake on Kishimoto’s part for his terrible track record in writing women. Usually whenever Kishimoto introduces a strong female character Naruto, he inevitably captivates every agency that could be explored in her characters, binding them to the men in her life. For example, Kurenai Yuhi transformed from a powerful illusionist ninja into a stay-at-home housewife with zero to no screen time Naruto To Naruto Shippuden, its follow-up series. Basically, every female character in Naruto suffered the same fate until the end shippuden, which was disappointing to see.

during one 2014 Q&A with magazine Weekly Shonen Leap, Kishimoto admitted to “not being good with female characters” when speaking about the time his editor came up with the idea of making Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke’s relationship a love triangle early in the series. When asked why he thought Sakura and Rock Lee resonated with fans in a 2006 interview Shonen jump, Kishimoto said it was because “they are easy to empathize with” because “they represent human weaknesses.” Rock Lee is one of the few Naruto characters who cannot use ninjutsu. While Kishimoto would inevitably make Sakura do better by making her one of the strongest characters in Naruto Shippudenit’s hard not to feel like he texted her again after the fact as her sole purpose in existence is to help Sasuke “restore his clan” by having his daughter, Sarada. Knowing all of this, I couldn’t help but holler at Kishimoto as he congratulated Sakura on placing high in the Naruto99 poll.
“I was shocked to see Minato at the top in all regions, and the fact that Sakura is so loved by many people around the world made me proud as a writer,” Kishimoto wrote.
Ultimately, I believe Sakura dodged a bullet by not winning the Naruto99 poll. While her clear win over her Team Seven teammates is a sweet victory to bask in, the last thing the Naruto Community Needs is a poorly written one-shot about the Leaf Village’s most powerful female ninja. Believe it.
