This is what we will see in this WWDC 2023 according to Mark Gurman

WWDC 2023

The Apple Developers Conference, WWDC 2023, begins on June 5. It is without a doubt one of the most anticipated events of the year in the world of technology, and a must for any Apple fan. What will they show us during this event? Gurman anticipates it, as always.

The protagonists of the event will undoubtedly be mixed reality glasses (virtual reality and augmented reality), but other products will be announced at the event, such as new Macs and the biggest software update for watchOS, the Apple Watch operating system. The list of novelties that we will see is as follows:

  • Mixed reality glasses, Apple’s biggest novelty for almost ten years, which will be accompanied by new software: xrOS.
  • New MacBooks
  • iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10 and macOS 14.

The new versions of iOS and iPadOS won’t bring major changes, but they will include a long list of small changes that respond to user requests. Gurman notes that he doesn’t expect major changes for macOS and tvOS either. However, the story will be very different when we get to watchOS 10, which will bring its biggest update since the launch of the Apple Watch.

The headline launch will be Mixed Reality Glasses, a mix of what we call virtual reality and augmented reality glasses, and which, in Gurman’s words, is Apple’s Future Beyond iPhone and iPad. The glasses will not only be the protagonists during the presentation of the 5, but also throughout all the sessions that will take place in the following days for the developers, focusing on their application store and the tools for developers that will accompany their launch. In fact, the event will be very developer-focused, as the product won’t reach users until several months after its presentation, once the developers have been able to create content for the glasses. Within Apple, it’s not expected to be an immediate blockbuster product, but rather the start of a path to something that will eventually replace the iPhone. Gurman hopes it will arrive in time for the Christmas season, but not sooner.

As for Apple computers, a 15-inch MacBook Air, a new 13-inch MacBook Air as well as a new entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro will be introduced. We’ll see new desktop Macs we’ve been waiting for, including the refreshed 24-inch iMac and the first Mac Pro with an Apple Silicon processor. There will also be a renewal of the high-end MacBook Pro and the Mac Studio will also have a new model, contrary to what some rumors claimed. It is expected that the new models they present will not include M3 processors, but rather evolutions of the existing M2 processors.
