Entertainment website Variety has revealed more details about the live-action Knuckles series that is being readied for release on Paramount Plus. Knuckles will once again be played by Idris Elba, and the story will revolve around Knuckles training Wade Whipple as his protégé and teaching him the ways of the Echidna warrior. Variety also revealed the timeline for the Knuckles series, and it will take place between the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 . You can read more here.
“Production of the series is now underway in London. John Whittington, who worked on the screenplay for “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” wrote the pilot for “Knuckles” and serves as the show’s head writer and executive producer. Brian Schacter and James Madejski are also writers.”
“Jeff Fowler, who directed both “Sonic the Hedgehog” films, will direct the pilot episode and executive produce the series. Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara — all members of the films’ creative team — serve as executive producers, as does Elba. Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone and Carol Banker also direct episodes. Paramount Pictures and Sega of America are producing.”
