Fabledom wants to be a modern The Settlers game on PC

Fabledom, game, Modern, my city, Overall, Settlers, Sims, songs, Ubisoft

I feel like the last 12 months that I have done nothing but play city builders. They are overall on Steam, but to his credit mythical creatures is not really a city builder. It’s more of a big city.

A game set in a medieval fantasy landscape, mythical creatures looks Ubisoft’s classic (and unfortunately long neglected) very closely over the shoulder settlers Series built around the idea of building a small town, luring farmers to their green fields, and then putting them to work to build an economy (or occasionally die in battle).

Where it tries something different, though, is a layer of fantasy/character material spread thinly across it. In Fabledom, your kingdom exists as one of many in a randomly generated landscape, and you can – by completing certain missions – develop relationships with these rival rulers, ranging from companionship to romantic entwinement.

FABLEDOM – Early Access Launch Trailer

The whole is disgusting Cute. The fairytale scenery is cute, the little farmers are cute, their little farms are cute; The longer I stared at the screen, the more my teeth hurt from how sweet everything was. It doesn’t matter that some of these poor souls spend their whole lives shoveling coal or breaking their backs picking vegetables, they all look like they’re having fun, and that’s enough for me to feel good about myself feel.

I also like the customization aspects of the game, which not only allow you to place buildings, but also their yards and the surrounding landscape. For example, if you’re building a house, you place the building and its fences, pull them out to size the yard, and then choose from smaller structures like clotheslines and beehives that stand within that boundary. It adds a wonderful little sims-like element of the game that makes building your city a more customizable and personal experience.

While I haven’t been able to try all of the strategic things available in the game, either because I haven’t gotten that far or because a feature is locked (i.e. it hasn’t been developed yet), it seems to be a kind of ‘icing on the cake’ -to be situation. Most of the experience here is building and managing cities, and out of all the games like this I’ve played in the past few months, this is already one of the best.

mythical creatures is now available in Early Access on Steam.
