Mark Healey, Co-Founder little big planet developer media elements and director Dreamleft the studio after 17 years.

Healey announced the news on his personal Twitter account, confirming that he has left Media Molecule, the studio he co-founded in 2006 with Alex Evans, Kareem Ettouney and David Smith. “So, after 17 incredible years of co-birthing and building media molecules — I decided it was time to take off — set sail and chart a new course — and today is my last day at MM,” Healy said in tweeted.

Talking about Little Big Planet and Dreams, he continued, “Proud to play my character and lucky to be around some truly talented people…but a strong cosmic wind is pulling me, my pirate The heart is awakened, and I can’t get anything young, so I’m going to indulge myself for a while and see where my various curiosities take me.” Healey said by saying that he’s “going on a pirate adventure! ( The one that involves making games)” to wrap things up, but it’s not clear if that means he’ll be working on pirate-related stuff, or if he just has a bit of fun with his phrasing.

Healey has had a long career in the games industry, having worked on games like Black and White and Fable at Lionhead Studios (led by the infamous Peter Molyneux). There he worked alongside the future Media Molecule co-founders before the team left Lionhead to form their own studio.

This comes a week after Media Molecule announced it would end support for Dreams later this year, of which Healey served as a director. It wasn’t all bad news for Media Molecule, though, as the developer also announced that it was working on a new game, but gave no specifics.
