Endnight Games released a major update children of the forest Several new features have been added, several bugs have been fixed, and a number of improvements have been made.
One of the new features in the patch is a new system for finding cover locations. Now no more beginnings on your GPS tracker. Another new feature is the action camera, which you can use to view found footage videos, the first of which is in the update. More footage videos of the discovery will appear in the future.
It also adds a new point of interest when a laptop is found, and kicks and bans pop-up messages when kicked or banned in-game. Additionally, this patch includes AI improvements and the ability to name your savegames.
The developer also notes that the demanding log sled will return in an upcoming patch. When this patch was announced in March, the studio stated that it was considering adding log sleds back in, and it’s good to know they listened to players. That should make Kelsey especially happy.
Improvements include Kelvin being able to carry two logs at a time, brighter night vision goggles, snow impact effects and avalanche cutscenes, more spots for cannibals in villages, mud is scarier than usual, skinned critters will now have skinned Visually, a North Arrow guide now appears on the mini-map, it features multiple cannibal improvements, and ballistic impact effects from other players can now be seen in multiplayer.
You can now add binoculars, night vision goggles, wires, and light bulbs to the quick select slot, 3D printer readings should update more accurately, a new lake has been added to the golf course, and the GPS map will include all current ponds and lake, and the patch removes the dowel from the opening cutscene laptop screen.
The patch contains numerous fixes and tweaks to the audio. You can read the full list of notes on the Children of the Forest Steam page.
