One of the most useful and personally appreciated features of the latest Apple Watch models is the fast charging support. This allows you to quickly charge your Apple Watch battery at any time of the day at much faster speeds than before and allows us to have the clock at all times for tasks like tracking sleep, running a workout, or just getting to the end of the day. But there are several things to consider and knowing that everything you need isn’t in the box.
In the first place, Which Apple Watch models support fast charging? Only three models:
- Apple Watch Series 7
- Apple Watch Series 8
- Apple Watch Ultra
In these three models, Apple indicates that with fast charging, your Apple Watch can be charged from 0-80% in about 45 minutes (and this, in practice, is more or less correct). Apple has a support document that details the specs for this fast charge, in case you want to take a look.
Now, what do we need to use fast charging on our Apple Watch? Well, first of all, dYou should know that Apple includes a USB-C charging cable that supports fast charging in the box of these three compatible models. In other words, the cable itself, should support this feature (even if it’s MFI, it may not be). If you are planning to buy one from Amazon or any platform, keep this in mind. The difference of this cable with the previous ones included by Apple is the aluminum it uses in the magnetic part instead of the white plastic.
The second part of the equation is AC adapter that plugs into the wall. As part of its “ongoing effort to reduce its environmental footprint”, Apple also does not include this power adapter in the Apple Watch box as it did with the iPhone. That means you’ll have to use one you already own or buy a new one.
Apple as soon as itAny USB Power Delivery compatible USB-C power adapter of 5W or more is capable of fast charging Apple Watch. They are easily found on Amazon for example and at very good prices. But I would always recommend recognized brands. its theThe specifications indicated by Apple as valid are as follows:
- USB-C power adapter of 18W, 20W, 29W, 30W, 61W, 87W or 96W from Apple.
- And comparable USB-C power adapter from another manufacturer that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) of 5 W or higher.
