You need 32 GB of RAM to play Diablo 4 at 4K

Diablo, Play, RAM

Diablo 4 is just a few weeks away. As a classic PC franchise, knowing how your PC will handle the action RPG is a tradition for those of you who have been waiting for its release for years.

Today is the day all these fans get an answer, and very few of them will be happy to hear that answer.

The latest Diablo 4 video delves into personalization.

In a blog post, Blizzard revealed four complete sets of PC requirements, targeting different resolutions and frame rates. While things started out fairly standard, they quickly turned to the absurdity of the Diablo 4 game.

First, the game requires an SSD and a quad-core CPU as minimum requirements for all spec sets.blizzard say game Can Runs on a dual-core CPU and mechanical hard drive, but “gaming experience may be significantly reduced”.

And you’ll need to make quite a bit of space for it, too, as the release version of the game requires twice as much space as the most recent beta. All spec sets require 90GB of free space at launch, a number that may increase as new content is added.

But perhaps the most surprising thing about these specs is that Blizzard says your PC needs to be at 4K Ultra settings to play it. As you can see below, running Diablo 4 at that level requires 32GB of RAM, and an RTX 3080 or equivalent 40-series GPU (so 4070).

It is becoming increasingly common for some of the highest AAA titles to require 32GB of memory. We recently saw it in The Last of Us Part 1. It’s worth noting that Diablo 4 supports DLSS 2 and 3, as well as FSR 2 – which means you can greatly reduce these requirements if you decide to use rebuilding techniques.

Next month’s Worldwide Server Slam will be a good testing ground for Diablo 4 PC optimizations, as Blizzard confirmed that all spec sets below will also work for the upcoming test. It’s also worth remembering that Diablo 4 will get ray tracing support after launch, so its specs will likely be higher.
