A very important thing Honkai: Stellar Rail don’t tell you how to retreat in battlewhich can save you a lot of time when you know you’re going to end up losing.
If you’ve assembled a party that isn’t suited for a certain enemy encounter, or if you forgot to use items or a character’s useful technique to improve your party before engaging an enemy, it’s also better to retreat than to harden and waste time.

How to withdraw in Honkai Star Rail
For all combat situations, including boss fights and Forgotten Room battles, you can retreat in Honkai Star Rail by by pressing the pause button, then selecting “Retreat”, “Return” or “End the fight and finalize”.
So PC players have to click on the two vertical lines next to auto battle toggle in the top-right corner, mobile users just tap it, and those playing with a controller tap the options button (AKA the start button).
The retreat will return you to the nearest space anchor and heal your party, or send you back to where you started the challenge.
If you withdraw from a battle in the Forgotten Room, you will instead be taken back to the Forgotten Room main menu.
However, if you’re going through a tough time in the simulated universe and want to opt out, that’s handled a little differently.
How to Exit the Simulated Universe in Honkai Star Rail
These are the same inputs for withdrawing from battle in the simulated universe – pausing and choosing the option to end the fight – but running away from an encounter will take you completely out of the simulated universe. You will therefore have to start again from the beginning of this World after having gone back.
When you are not in combat, you can leave the simulated universe by selecting the icon exit symbol above minimap in the upper left corner of the screen.
When you leave, any points you collect will still count towards your weekly mission in the Simulated Universe, and you can also keep lost items from any enemies you defeat.
