Ahead of Layers of Fear’s global launch this June, Bloober Team and Anshar Studios have shared new gameplay footage showing how the game will perform on Unreal Engine 5.

Showcasing brand new mechanics and stunning visual enhancements compared to the original, the video will be one of the first games ever to launch on Unreal Engine 5.

Layers of Fear introduces new core gameplay mechanics, one of which is the addition of lanterns, which prove to be crucial in combating the fears lurking in the story.

The game’s music has also been updated, as Arek Reikowski, a two-time nominee in the Best Score category at the Hollywood Music Media Awards and winner of Best Score for Digital Dragons for The Medium, added an additional layer to the game’s soundtrack. Tension.

Built from the ground up to maximize the engine’s performance, the developers focused on creating “a well-rounded, immersive horror experience with unparalleled technical specifications.”

Layers of Fear supports ray tracing, HDR, and 4K resolution, helping to improve visual accuracy and realism. In-game reflections and overall graphical fidelity will be noticeable. It leverages Lumen Global Illumination for dynamic lighting, Niagara Visual Effects for real-time particle effects, and motion system controls to improve the development flow and optimization of all game mechanics.

The game looks like an experience to bring fans and new players back to the series, as it contains the original game, Layers of Fear 2, and all the DLC, including a new chapter called The Final Note. This chapter provides an alternate perspective on the storyline of the first game.

Layers of Fear will also introduce The Writer’s never-before-heard story that ties together every entry in the series.

The game will be released on PC and PS5 and XBox Series X/S via the Epic Games Store in June.
