What’s new in Prime Video for May 2023? Amazon released its calendar like Netflix and Disney+. Expect big chunks with three key additions.
April is almost over and so it’s the right time for SVOD platforms to announce the next additions. After the company with the red N and Mickey, Amazon unveils the new Prime Video of May 2023. An announcement that comes after the launch of a new feature that should be enjoyed by many subscribers, even if today it is not available in all programs.
This month, Amazon is betting on nostalgia with must-see franchises that are deeply rooted in pop culture. So we have a cult work by Akira Toriyama, an ordinary man who turns into a superhero after being bitten by an insect, or even very special game hunters…

The new Prime Video releases of May 2023
For the new Prime Video films and series starting in May 2023, Amazon will be offering the finale of its original series citadel. A huge project from Anthony and Joe Russo, the directors of Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame. But why is it absolutely “huge”? Just for the budget allotted to this TV show. In fact, it totals around 200 million, making it the second most expensive series in history next to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It stings!
But the real additions are elsewhere, starting with Dragon Ball, which makes a surprise appearance on Prime Video. It will be the full one in 153 episodes, but being a subscriber won’t be enough. It is mandatory to have the Warner Pass, which is therefore not included, to see this monster of animation. An anime accessible through the Toonami channel (Harley Quinn, Rick and Morty…).
Ahead of the new Ghostbusters movie, due out on December 20, 2023, giant Amazon has acquired the rights to Ghostbusters: Legacy. The last feature film with Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Paul Rudd or Finn Wolfhard. A component that resonates better than its predecessor and its 100% female cast.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (May 19)
Spider-Man, the most popular superhero starring Batman, lands in Spider-Man No Way Home on Amazon Prime Video. The very last film of the new trilogy. This grand finale features Tom Holland (Uncharted) and Zendaya (euphoria) seeks help with the Doctor Strange to meet even greater challenges.
An episode that stands out from the previous two because it picks up old faces… and explores the concept of the multiverse like never before. One of the best Spider-Man? This feeling prevailed in the reviews of the release.
Fear the Walking Dead – Season 8 (May 16)
