You may recall that earlier this week it was confirmed that the Super Mario Bros. grossed over $900,000,000 worldwide. On the same day, it also began to look very likely that the film would cross $1,000,000,000 by the end of this weekend.
Well, the Nintendo and Illumination film hasn’t officially reached that milestone yet, but it won’t stay that way for much longer. In fact, based on the projected weekend gross totals so far, the film is reported to reach the billion mark sometime tomorrow, Sunday. Once that happens, it will be the tenth animated film to do so. It will also be the first film of the year to reach that milestone.
