vampire survivor Poncle creator Luca Galante is teaming up with Story Kitchen to adapt the game into an animated TV series.
According to Deadline, a writer is now being sought to adapt the comedy-gothic horror series. The show is also being sourced from the animated television network.
“The most important thing in Vampire Survivor is the story, so seeing a small indie game I made over the weekend come to life as an animated TV show is a dream come true,” Gallant said in a statement. “It’s also great to work with these experienced, talented people on this show. I do wonder, though, if they realize there isn’t a single vampire in Vampire Survivor.”
Story Kitchen co-founder Dmitri M. Johnson said: “When our creative director, Dan Jevons, first announced Vampire Survivor last year, we were ready to see it as Another vampire game.” After playing it, we were hooked and just couldn’t get enough.
“Needless to say, we are truly honored to be working with this incredible team and continuing the story of vampire survivors.”
Story Kitchen was co-founded by John Wick writer and creator Derek Kolstad, along with Sonic the Hedgehog filmmaker Johnson and former APA agent and partner Mike Goldberg.
Story Kitchen is working on other game-to-TV adaptations, including Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, Toejam and Earl, Streets of Rage, and Both Wounds.
Released in October 2022 after an early access period, Vampire Survivor has proven hugely popular and currently holds an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam. The game has also benefited from the release of two distinct DLCs, the latest of which, Tides of the Foscari, has a fantasy RPG vibe.
In this shooter-survival game with rogue-lite elements, hell has been emptied of demons, and it’s up to you to survive until dawn as long as you can. As one of 41 playable characters, you’ll take down thousands of nocturnal creatures and earn coins in the process.
Vampire Survivor has been nominated for numerous awards, winning five, including two BAFTA Awards for Best Game and Game Design.
