Last month, Microsoft announced that it would be looking to change the Xbox dashboard to a simpler one, with less clutter in options and more visibility for the back panel. While ordinary Xbox users haven’t noticed the difference, those who signed up and selected for the Xbox Insider Program have already spoken and listened.
Now, and according to the blog of Xbox thread, they will release a new prototype for testing by users of the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha Rings. These are selected through the Insider program to perform the corresponding tests and suggestions. In what has been seen, the change is significant from the previously featured version, also demonstrating new additions to new game suggestions and a “games and apps” mosaic where game news and updates will appear on the store or our interest.
A cleaner, more vibrant home, the new Xbox
The things that can be achieved with the Xbox Insiders program are very interesting. This change to Home is something Xbox and the community have been working on for several months now, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that some of the new features that are coming will be integrations from other platforms such as PlayStation or Nintendo. Of course, there are variations that make Xbox a unique platform in the way it allows the user to easily navigate their console without worrying about anything but playing.
This new version of Home:
- It offers easy navigation to your library, Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, search, and settings at the top of your start by introducing a new quick access menu.
- Simplify the layout and make more room for you to see the background by reducing the size of some tiles and moving them to the bottom of the screen.
- Adds a responsive game art feature to update the default background and display the beautiful art associated with each title when hovering over tiles.
Regarding the above, the third point will be one of the great novelties of this Xbox dashboard. Something similar has already been seen on older consoles like the Xbox 360, but it’s definitely something transferred and adopted from other platforms and that we hadn’t fully implemented in our menus.
At the moment we cannot steal this new home, which is already done by users of the Xbox Insiders program. If you want to participate and be considered by Microsoft for these tests, you can register from your console and select the tests in which you want to give your opinion on games, demos, updates and more.
