Last December, Marvel’s Midnight Suns was released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but other versions of the game have yet to be released. Unfortunately, at least one version has now been completely discontinued.
Firaxis and 2K released the thoroughly convincing Marvel’s Midnight Suns for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S last December, but commercially it fell short of expectations. Nevertheless, implementations for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as the Nintendo Switch were also planned to date. At least the Nintendo console is no longer supplied.
It has now been officially confirmed that the Switch implementation of the game has been discontinued. However, details of the background were initially left open in the corresponding press release. It remains unclear whether this step is due to a lack of interest or perhaps technical difficulties.
The Switch version was even confirmed when the game was originally announced in August 2021 along with the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. The release, originally planned for March 2022, was then postponed to October 7th and then to December 2022 – but only the versions for the platforms mentioned above were released. The switch version should follow “at a later date” – and now it doesn’t make it anymore.
On the other hand, it looks better for the implementations for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that have also been announced, because they have even received a specific release date in this context. Already in the next week from May 11th, those interested will be able to dive into the title of the XCOM makers. At that point, all DLC will be available on PS4 and Xbox One alongside the main game.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns DLC each introduces new recruitable Super Heroes and three story missions. Also included are upgrades to the Abbey and a selection of new skins and outfits.
