Microsoft’s head of gaming Phil Spencer has weighed in on critics and gamers red drop.

In an interview with Kinda Funny Games, Spencer lamented the disappointment of the Xbox community and said that Xbox Games Studios will “revisit” its process.

“For me, there’s nothing harder than letting the Xbox community down,” Spencer said. “I’m disappointed to see the community lose faith and feel disappointed. I’m uncomfortable with myself. We’re going to revisit our process.”

Spencer went on to say that Arkane Austin’s team plans to continue working on the game, and despite the poor critical response, he won’t stop the developer from being willing to take risks in the future.

“The critical response isn’t what we want, but one thing I won’t do is go against creative aspirations. We’ll keep working on the game.

“We’ve made a commitment to games like Sea of Thieves and Grounded to continue developing games. But I also know that these games cost $70 and I take full responsibility for delivering a game that needs to be great.”

During the podcast, Spencer also mentioned the “shock” he had when he launched Redfall on Xbox consoles with a quality mode only, capping the game at 30FPS instead of the promised 60FPS. Currently, gaming on Xbox Series X is capped at 4K and 30FPS, while Xbox Series S users are capped at 1440p and 30FPS.

That said, Bethesda promises to add a 60FPS performance mode via a future game update.
