And the first ad is fat. After numerous rumors and leaks, the Pixel Fold is official. Google itself showed it off in its official accounts, along with a little video showing off its design and some of the more interesting (and controversial) decisions.

The Google Pixel Fold is a foldable phone similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4; Unsurprisingly, the screens come from the Korean manufacturer. However, we are faced with a different pattern, something we will notice above all in the proportions; external and internal displays are more “boxy”, with a format that may do better for some tasks (and worse for others).
When opened, the Pixel Fold flaunts a large 7.6-inch display that will provide a more tablet-like experience. This is where the first controversy comes in: the thick edges of the internal screen can make it a foldable mobile less attractive than the competition. However, these borders are so thick on purpose, and this is not a technical limitation.
To begin with, it should be noted that the selfie camera does not make a hole in the internal screen, but is housed in the upper edge thanks to its greater thickness. This allows you to get the full picture without distractions, which we will appreciate when viewing full-screen content such as videos or video games.

For now, Google has not specified more about the Pixel Fold, which will not be presented until May 10. It’s expected to use the same Tensor G2 processor as the Pixel 7, and it’s priced similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, around $1,799.
